Ever found yourself tongue-tied in front of a crushable? Knowing you shouldn’t let the opportunity pass by, but dumbfounded when it comes to what to say? Instead of over-thinking it, trying to drum up something wildly witty, bank on a foolproof MENgagement standby. Guys like to feel needed so try asking for help: “Can you pass the sugar, please?” (which allows you the opportunity to “accidentally” gently touch hands) or “Would you mind watching my stuff for a minute?” (which allows him to know he’s the chosen one and gives you another chance to talk to him upon your return). Secondly, we aren’t the only ones who relish in the light of a good compliment. Boys like them too so toss a manly compliment his way and if appropriate add a question along with it to engage him longer, such as “That’s a very cool t-shirt – did you go to the concert?” Thirdly, for the boldest of them all, to showcase your generosity and to have the best chance of igniting a conversation, offer to share something - perhaps a bite of something you are nibbling on (pretty hard to resist!) or a listen to a song.
